No Illegal Fireworks This Year In Holiday Hideaway
No Illegal Fireworks This Year In Holiday Hideaway.
Skagit County Sheriff Will Be On Patrol.
In the past several years the Holiday Hideaway area, and especially Cooks Cove, have experienced increasing numbers of people, both residents of HH and others from off and on the island, shooting off illegal fireworks. Because of the noise, mess, garbage, fire hazard and pet concerns, the seven Board of Directors have voted to pay the expenses of having a Skagit County Sheriff in the Holiday Hideaway during the evening of the 4th of July up until about 1 AM. This decision is the result of much neighborhood input and based on past years experiences. Anyone shooting off illegal fireworks will be subject to arrest. The Holiday Hideaway Board wants to give plenty of notice to people to not bring illegal fireworks to Guemes Island expecting to be able to use them here.
